Software Review: Windows Live Messenger, Writer and Mail
February 24, 2008 — yavinfourGenerally, they are the easiest piece of software that I’ve used regarding their uses. You can easily customize their colors and looks easily. Their design is so simplified and very user friendly.
For the Windows Live Messenger, I am really attracted to its glassy appearance. It performs well on my PIII 500mhz 191MB RAM as long as I’m not running any heavy programs together with it. I can log on with my Yahoo Messenger account and IM w/ my friends without any hassle. Another thing that I like in this is that you can change the IM window background with a custom image unlike on Yahoo messenger.
For the Windows Live Writer, it is a blogging tool. You can edit your post offline and post it in your multiple blogs. All of my posts in the YAVINATOR log were posted from here. There is no problem when you put some images on your post, WLW takes care of it. As of now, I haven’t got any problems with this. With this, I can blog much faster than doing it online.
For the Windows Live Mail, they said it looks like the Windows Mail in Vista. For me, It has its clean design and a simplified toolbar for the most important tasks. I can read my RSS feeds from here, my WL contacts(it has an integrated address book for WL), and of course, my multiple e-mail accounts. I only found a few hassle when downloading my mails from Hotmail and some POP3 accounts, but not from Gmail.
